Workshops

Overview of Motivational Interviewing: 1-2 hours

Introduction to Motivational Interviewing: 3-6 hours

  • Learn what MI is in comparison to standard of care
  • Learn the role of ambivalence in behavior change
  • Introduction to the Spirit of MI
  • Demonstration of MI
  • Practice the OARS skills: Open ended questions, affirmations, reflections and summaries
  • Learn the skill of Elicit-provide-elicit format for giving information

Complete Motivational Interviewing Training: 14-16 hours

  • Complete MI training
  • Learn and practice the core skills of MI to decrease ambivalence and support behavior change
  • Demonstrate the Spirit of MI
  • Learn complex reflections to manage client's sustain talk

Advanced MI Training: 4-6 hours

  • Review and practice MI Spirit
  • Strengthen core skills of MI
  • Skills, coaching and feedback tailored to group specific cases

Feedback and Coaching

Skills focused feedback sessions: 30-60minutes

  • In-person or via zoom.
  • Can watch or listen to a recording with feedback.

MITI coding

  • Receive a feedback email – trainer will listen to your session and provide written feedback.

In-vivo feedback:

  • During a 30-minute role play either with the trainer alone, or with a dyad (coach and patient)
